3. Mr. Ralph Waldo Emerson - Writer - His essay on circles

The eye is the first circle; the horizon which it forms is the second; and throughout nature this primary figure is repeated without end. It is the highest emblem in the cipher of the world. St. Augustine described the nature of God as a circle whose centre was everywhere, and its circumference nowhere. We are all our lifetime reading the copious sense of this first of forms. One moral we have already deduced, in considering the circular or compensatory character of every human action. Another analogy we shall now trace; that every action admits of being outdone. Our life is an apprenticeship to the truth, that around every circle another can be drawn; that there is no end in nature, but every end is a beginning; that there is always another dawn risen on mid-noon, and under every deep a lower deep opens.

This fact, as far as it symbolizes the moral fact of the Unattainable, the flying Perfect, around which the hands of man can never meet, at once the inspirer and the condemner of every success, may conveniently serve us to connect many illustrations of human power in every department.

What is Equilibrium Publishing?

Equilibrium Publishing is about embracing an organic collective of sharp social commentary and expressive literature with emotive music and experimental graphics.

We are looking for grassroots contributions to create a shared piece, a new medium we call EQUILIBRIUMS to be distributed online in podcast form.

Revolving triangles of influence, Equilibriums consist of an original work by each of three distinct contributors in different artistic vehicles: prose, music, animated and video graphics.

Here is the 3 act structure of an Equilibrium, all three acts are started and conducted simultaneously:

Act 1

Writer creates an original piece (essay, short story, short play) > hands it off to the musician who adds an instrumental piece inspired by the writing > the writing with music is given to the graphic artist

Act 2

Musician creates an original piece (instrumental) > hands it off to the writer who adds a written piece inspired by the music > the music with writing is given to the graphic artist

Act 3

The graphic artist creates an original piece > hands it off to the musician who adds an instrumental piece to accompany > the graphics with writing are given to the writer

The order of the three acts will be determined as the final stage, voted upon by all contributors.

Although the connection between the three acts is lacking in a linear structure, an abstract tie between the three acts will be intrinsically present because of three artists voices running throughout each piece.

We are looking at what is connected and what is disassociated in our artistic and intellectual expressions and how if we embrace the negative and scattered capabilities as well as the well choreographed mediums we can find a new understanding of our shared experience in this place and time we call home.
